I honestly didn’t know what a bunting was — I thought it was something to do with what the guy called his daughter before he went hunting in the nursery rhyme. (Note that the nursery rhyme didn’t work out so well for the rabbit).
But, one of my wife, Jamie, and I’s favorite blogs, Pollywog Creek, has some pictures of a painted bunting - - so I now know what Painted Buntings are in general, and I have met one in particular, on the banks of Pollywog Creek.

I’m not sure what Gunny means when he says, “A case of the Monday’s,” but, whatever he means, I’ve got it.
I usually have what I call “sermonic hangover” on Monday. Yesterday was our Annual Meeting (which went great!) and I have a severe case. I’ve managed to do some tax work - - scoop some snow - - and take a walk. I just finished reading Jack and the Bean Stalk to Mary Beth (our five year old) – other than that, I am unproductive.
If you are someone who struggles with depression, you might appreciate the story of William Cowper who lived in the 1700’s.
Despite being a gifted poet and writer, Cowper struggled with depression so much that he was institutionalized. It was in an asylum that he read the Bible and understood that salvation is found in Christ.
If you are a reader, then Emily Dickinson’s words will resonate with you. Waltke quotes it in his Old Testament Theology.
Greg Koukl profoundly interacts with the question, “What about those who have never heard the Gospel?” I think his comments near the end of this short clip about “American fairness” are spot on.
