One of the challenges of unpacking forgiveness is to see how different biblical principles relate to one another. For instance, Proverbs 19:11 says, “A man’s wisdom gives him patience. It is to his glory to overlook an offense.” But, Matthew 18:15ff says, “Go and show him his fault just between the two of you. . . so which is it?
The below diagram is not included in my book Unpacking Forgiveness: Biblical Answers for Complex Questions and Deep Wounds. But, I think it is helpful because it shows high level the relationship between different principles.
